Our units range from one-bedroom to four-bedroom units to accommodate different-sized families.  We manage 18 self-contained, unfurnished housing units located across Halifax Regional Municipality. Our buildings are equipped with outdoor security cameras, 24-hour alarm systems, and kick-proof doors. All of our locations are anonymous to protect the safety of the women. Rent is geared towards income.

Can I stay at an Alice House unit?

Staying at an Alice House unit is possible if you are:

  • in need of safe housing due to physical, sexual, emotional, financial, social, and/or spiritual abuse
  • at least 19 years of age
  • in receipt of a source of income (could be from having a job or with help from Income Assistance, Employment Insurance, child support, etc.)
  • able to live independently
  • ready to commit to counselling for yourself, children, and/or group counselling
  • willing to make personal goals related to education, employment, financial independence, and finding permanent housing after leaving an Alice House unit

Acceptance into our program is based on unit size and availability and our ability to meet your needs.
