The Global Shelter Count has just been released, produced by our sister association, the Alberta Council of Women’s Shelters, and provided by the Canadian Network of Women’s Shelters & Transition Houses:
“In one day 7,106 women with 3,792 children were turned away from shelters
because we simply did not have space.
This means that 10,898 women and children continued to be at risk of continuing
violence and exploitation.
In total, shelters reported that in one day 108,388 women and children
reached out to us for safety, security and support.
